DOING / LIVING marketplace
Nestled within Manhattan’s prestigious Billionaires’ Row, the Doing/Living Marketplace at 218 West 57th Street reimagined a historic landmark into a vibrant hub for intentional living and community engagement. Originally constructed in 1897 as the headquarters for the American Society of Civil Engineers, this French Renaissance Revival building has undergone various transformations—from housing Schrafft’s restaurant to serving as Lee’s Art Shop—before being revitalized by Doing/Living.
Under the creative direction of Juliet Silva-Yee, a celebrity makeup artist turned multidisciplinary artist / entrepreneur, and Alyson Charles, a television host. The space was transformed into a four-story vertical marketplace. This innovative concept blended art, wellness, and curated retail, offering visitors a unique experience that emphasized community over competition.
Located directly across from New York’s first Nordstrom and steps from Central Park, the Doing/Living Marketplace offered a refreshing alternative to the fast pace of its surroundings — bringing warmth and creativity to one of Manhattan’s most high-profile streets.
